A Nurturing Home for Monks of All Ages
The Neydo Monastery is home to hundreds of monks, from children as young as seven to adults continuing their lifelong spiritual journey. Here, monks immerse themselves in Buddhist philosophy, ethics, and the profound Neydo lineage, guided by the principles of karma and inspired by great leaders such as the Dalai Lama.
Foundational Education for Young Monks
Young monks begin with a solid foundation through Nepal’s national curriculum (grades 1–6), where they study essential subjects alongside the basics of Buddhist philosophy and ethical practices.
Advancing in Buddhist Philosophy
As they mature, monks pursue advanced Buddhist studies and, for those with dedication, the monastery offers Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Buddhist Philosophy. These higher studies prepare monks for teaching and leadership roles within the monastic community.
Guided and Self-Study Learning
Education at Neydo Monastery blends traditional monastic training with modern methods. Monks engage in self-study and guided sessions led by teachers, senior monks, and lay practitioners, ensuring the true essence of the scriptures is preserved and understood.
Preserving the Legacy of Buddhist Wisdom
By combining spiritual training with academic education, Neydo Monastery safeguards the living legacy of Tibetan Buddhism. Its balanced approach honors tradition while making Buddhist philosophy relevant for today’s world, ensuring its continuity for generations to come.
